The park is made historically important because within its boundaries are the ruins of On-A-Slant Mandan Indian Village and the Fort Abraham Lincoln cavalry and infantry posts. Situated on the meandering Turtle River, located in a beautiful wooded valley. The park offers year-round recreational activities, including camping, picnicking, fishing and trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing.
Twelve Woodland Cabins are available during the summer. Ten of the units sleep 6 each and are equipped with bunkbeds, toilets and showers. Two units are wheelchair accessible and sleep 3 and are equipped with a single bed, one bunkbed, and wheelchair accessible shower and toilet. No linens or bedding furnished and no cooking allowed inside. Rates are $40 a cabin per night. Woodland Lodge may be rented for $150 a day year-round for a family reunion.
